The Ponytail Palm (or Elephant's Foot Palm) is an evergreen minature tree that is native to semi-desert areas of certain South American countries. It is commonly grown as a houseplant and not only has aesthetic foliage but also produces creamy white flowers.
It is drought tolerant and is best placed in a position of full sunlight. A slow-grower that can reportedly live for decades, or even centuries, it’s no wonder that the ponytail palm is a popular houseplant choice.
Don’t let the name mislead you though Ponytail Palms aren’t actually palms at all, and are more closely related to lilies, but need the kind of care you’d give a cactus or succulent.
