Monkey Tail Cactus

Monkey Tail cactus are truly unique. 

It is of epilithic nature, meaning in its natural habitat it is most commonly found growing on rocks.

A single plant can have three to five stems, which branch at the bottom. The plant grows upright for a little bit before drooping. They produce beautiful bright red flowers that bloom for a few days then turn to fruits with a brief life span. 

Ideally an outdoor plant as they love the intense sunlight only the great outdoors gets. If growing indoors it will need the sunniest brightest spot in your home.  A Monkey Tail cactus will grow roughly 20-30cm yearly outdoors, significantly less if grown indoors. 

These boys are drought tolerant so water only when the soil is dry.  A minimal amount of watering is required over winter during their dormant period.
