Pottery Workshops

Just you, your favourite person, and a morning or afternoon at the wheel. Our workshops are private sessions for two, held in our South Yarra studio. Whether you're celebrating something, looking for a thoughtful date, or just want to spend a few hours making something with your hands — we'll teach you everything you need to know.

No experience required.

You'll work side by side with Tony, learning to throw your own ceramic piece. We supply the clay, the wheel, the tools and the aprons. You bring yourself and someone you like.

What to expect

Just for two. Every workshop is private — no other students, no rushing.

We trim, fire and glaze for you. Your pieces will be ready for collection in approximately 4–6 weeks. We'll let you know when they're ready.

Everything is included. Clay, tools, aprons and firing. The studio is upstairs above Plantonica at 491 Malvern Road, South Yarra, and it's stair access only — please get in touch before booking if that's a problem and we'll work something out.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need any experience?

None at all. Most of our students have never touched clay before. We'll guide you through every step.

What should I wear?

Something you don't mind getting clay on. We provide aprons, but clay finds a way. Closed shoes, and short nails make throwing much easier.

How many pieces will I make?

Most people make two or three. Everyone makes at least one they want to keep.

Can I gift a workshop?

Yes. TONiC Ceramics gift vouchers can be bought online and used for a workshop or for any of Tony's pieces in the shop.

Can I bring a drink?

Bring a bottle if you'd like. Glasses are on us.

When can I collect my pieces?

Roughly four to six weeks, once everything has been trimmed, glazed and fired. We'll let you know when they're ready, and we can post within Australia for a small fee if collecting is difficult.
