Friday Afternoons at the Wheel - Pottery for Two

Two hours upstairs at the wheel, just the two of you.

Tony takes you through wheel throwing — how to centre the clay, how to open it, and how to pull up a wall without losing the whole thing halfway up. Most people make two or three pieces. Everyone makes at least one they want to keep.

No experience needed.

You'll leave with clay under your fingernails and nothing to carry. We trim, glaze and fire everything over the following weeks, and then you come back to collect.

Every TONiC Ceramics piece is made in this room. The planters and mugs downstairs in Plantonica came off these wheels. It's a small, cosy studio.

What's included

• Two hours at the wheel with Tony
• A private session, just for two
• All clay, tools and aprons
• Trimming, glazing and firing
• Collection from the studio in about four weeks

Good to know

• Wear something you don't mind getting clay on. Aprons help, but they don't save everything.
• Closed shoes. Short nails make throwing much easier.
• The studio is upstairs and stair access only — please get in touch before booking if that's a problem and we'll work something out.
• Pieces are ready to collect in roughly four weeks. We can post them within Australia for a small fee if collecting is difficult.
• Bring a bottle if you'd like. Glasses are on us.

Booking and cancellations

Sessions are prepaid. If something comes up, let us know at least 48 hours ahead and we'll move you to another Friday. Inside 48 hours we're not able to refund or reschedule — it's a private session and the spot can't be refilled that late. Sessions are transferable, so send a friend if you can't make it.
